What Does Getting Back into Shape Mean to You?

One of the most important things you need to do in getting back into shape is set your goal. In doing so you need to decide what getting back into shape means to you. Is it weight loss, is it muscle growth, is it reducing your body fat percentage, is it improving your cardiovascular health, is it...?

You need to determine what it is you want because each goal requires a precise manner of action to get there. For example if you want muscle gain, doing cardio won't be your primary focus. And if you want cardiovascular improvement, then you won't be focusing on weights either.

The good news is that once you decide your goal, a finding a program to get you there will be no problem at all. Your only job at that point will be doing the work in the program. Take care of that an you'll reach your goal in no time. So the bottom line is, "Follow the plan, prepare for results."

Two of the most effective programs that are giving people the results they want are shown just to the right of this post. I recommend them because I use them myself. They are based on sound body training philosophies. Check them out by clicking on the buttons to the right or go to==>> No Nonsense Female Body Shaping or go to==>> No Nonsense Muscle Building.

Getting Started, Getting Back into Shape - My Story...But What Does That Mean to You?

There once was a time in my life where I thought that I needed to have a "modelesque" type body in order to be happy. And that look and shape was what I longed for. After continually trying and beating myself up for not reaching it, I just kind of...gave up.

As I got older, and become more interested in my overall health, I realized that what I really needed to do was stop worrying about the "look" of my body and concentrate on getting back into shape. I needed to be concerned with how much excess weight I was carrying and how strong my heart was. I needed to focusing getting in some physical activity on a daily basis and make sure I was eating things that were good for my body.

Since that realization I started paying attention to what I was eating and how much I was eating. (Honestly, portion control started first.) Then I committed to daily exercise. For me that meant a daily exercise program. Sure, in the back of my mind I would've love to have lost weight but what was more important to me was reducing my excess body fat.

Those were my two objectives and I have to admit, it took some adjustment. It took me forming a new habit. But since being healthy and fit became one of my priorities, it wasn't that difficult to make those adjustments.

What I was doing wasn't dieting and working out to lose weight. I was taking on a lifestyle change. And you know what??? It worked! At my heaviest I was a 168 pound 5' 5' 30 something female with over a 34% body fat ratio. According to the national standards, I was a 1% body fat increase from being considered obese. Now at 40 I weigh 143 lbs and am at a 21% body fat ratio.

No, I'm no skinny minny. But I don't have to be. I've picked up a lot of strength and muscle along the way in this journey. And in my recreational activities I have a bunch more stamina and endurance than ever before. I feel great and well, have heard enough comments to know that the change looks pretty good on me too.

Since taking on this quest I have started looking at new goals to achieve. I think that's a natural progression. Of course I will keep you posted along the way.

That's what getting back into shape means to me, simply getting back a fit and healthy body. The question is...What does getting back into shape mean to you? Is it a certain dress size, body fat percentage, level of fitness, being able to perform a sport again, getting back your 6-pack, something else? Whatever it is, let me know and let's work on it together. Together we can achieve our goals to get back into shape.

Any questions let me know.

Getting Back into Shape Introduction

Hey everyone,

It's comin' on a new year and for many they will be making a resolution to be getting back in shape. For some this is a new resolution and for many others...it's the same one as last year and the year before, and the year before that. That's okay though because this year is the year it's going to happen. Together we are going to get back in shape.

This blog is being created to help give information, answer questions, and offer support and motivation to help you achieve your goal of getting back into shape. In the meantime, these same answers and motivation will help me too.

Now I have to be honest, I'm not as out of shape as I use to be. I've just slacked off in that past few months. My getting back into shape happened about 4 years ago. Since then I became a personal trainer and at the age of 40 was in the best shape of my life...well at least since I was in junior high. Now, I feel great, look good, and get some great compliments...constantly. (That's definitely an added bonus.)

So join me and together we'll achieve our goal of getting back into shape. In the process, ask any question you want, make comments and suggestion to help others, and if you need motivation or want to give any go right on ahead.

Sign up for the rss feed and keep checking back for new posts, updates, and feedback from other posters. This new year there will be a new you and you'll be getting back into shape.
